Mackerel Baked on an Onion Bed in the Oven – Step-by-Step Recipe

Ingredients
- 2 mackerel carcasses;
- 3 onions;
- 1 lemon;
- 3-4 sprigs of parsley;
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil;
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano;
- 1/2 teaspoon of paprika;
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt;
- ground black pepper to taste.
Step-by-step recipe
- If the mackerel is frozen, thaw it first. Remove the entrails and gills, rinse the fish, and make several shallow cuts along the sides of the carcasses.
- Rub the mackerel with salt, ground black pepper, paprika, and oregano. Drizzle with the juice of half a lemon and let it marinate for 15 minutes.
- Slice the onions into half-rings and place them in a baking dish. Drizzle with vegetable oil and mix lightly.
- Stuff the parsley into the fish bellies, place the mackerel on the onion bed, and arrange the remaining lemon slices around it.
- Bake the dish for about 30-35 minutes in the oven at 190 degrees Celsius (375°F). Done!
