Shrimp cook in just a few minutes, so it's important to add them at the right moment to preserve their tender texture. Rice with shrimp in a pan is a hearty and light dish! We're sharing a simple step-by-step recipe!

Ingredients

  • 250 g long-grain rice;
  • 450 g peeled shrimp;
  • 1 carrot;
  • 1 onion;
  • 2 cloves garlic;
  • 100 g canned corn;
  • 500 ml hot water;
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil;
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric;
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper;
  • 1 teaspoon salt.

Step-by-Step Recipe

  1. Rinse the rice until the water runs clear. Peel and finely dice the onion, grate the carrot, and finely chop the garlic.
  2. Sauté the onion and carrot in vegetable oil until soft, stirring occasionally. Add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  3. Add the rice, stir, and heat for 2 minutes. Then pour in the hot water, add turmeric, ground black pepper, and salt.
  4. Cover the pan with a lid and cook the rice for 18-20 minutes over low heat. 5 minutes before the end, add the shrimp and canned corn.
  5. After cooking, gently stir the dish and let it sit covered for another 5 minutes.
