Ingredients
- 250 g long-grain rice;
- 1 onion;
- 1 carrot;
- 2 cloves garlic;
- 500 ml hot water;
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste;
- 1 teaspoon sweet paprika;
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil;
- 1 teaspoon salt;
- vegetable oil for frying.
Step-by-step recipe
- Rinse the rice several times until the water runs clear. Peel and finely dice the onion, grate the carrot on a coarse grater, and press the garlic through a press.
- Heat a skillet with vegetable oil and sauté the onion and carrot for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Add the rice and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Mix the hot water with tomato paste, garlic, paprika, basil, and salt. Pour the tomato mixture into the skillet.
- Bring the dish to a boil, cover, and cook for about 18-20 minutes over low heat until all the liquid is absorbed.
- Make sure the rice doesn't stick, and if you need a little more water, add it.
- Let the cooked rice rest for 7-10 minutes, covered, before serving.
