Truly tender and appetizing trout steaks in sour cream sauce, baked in the oven, will make a wonderful homemade dinner. The sour cream sauce helps retain the fish's juiciness and makes its flavor even milder. Moreover, this dish pairs well with a variety of side dishes! We share a proven recipe!

Ingredients

  • 4 trout steaks;
  • 200 g sour cream, 20% fat;
  • 2 cloves garlic;
  • 40 g hard cheese;
  • 2 tablespoons chopped dill;
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil;
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper;
  • 1 teaspoon salt.

Step-by-Step Recipe

  1. Rinse and pat dry the trout steaks with paper towels. Grate the cheese on a fine grater, finely chop the dill, and press the garlic through a press.
  2. Mix the sour cream with garlic, dill, basil, ground black pepper, and salt.
  3. Transfer the steaks to a baking dish and evenly cover them with the sour cream sauce. Sprinkle with grated cheese on top.
  4. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius (350°F). After that, remove the foil and bake the trout steaks for another 8-10 minutes until a golden cheese crust forms.
