The right base guarantees a perfect result in any dessert. This air fryer sponge cake turns out fluffy, tall, and pairs wonderfully with various creams. It also bakes thoroughly and will be easy to slice into layers. Here's a tried-and-true recipe!

Prep time: 1 hour 10 minutes.
Servings: 1.

Ingredients

  • 5 chicken eggs;
  • 150 g sugar;
  • 180-200 g wheat flour;
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder;
  • 1 pinch of salt.

Step-by-step recipe

  1. Take the eggs out of the refrigerator in advance to let them reach room temperature. Sift the flour together with the baking powder.
  2. Beat the eggs with sugar and salt for 7-10 minutes until a light, fluffy mixture forms, which will increase several times in volume.
  3. Using a silicone spatula, gradually fold in the sifted flour with baking powder, moving from bottom to top, to prevent the batter from deflating.
  4. Pour the prepared batter into an 18-20 cm diameter pan lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake the sponge cake for about 35-40 minutes at 160 degrees Celsius. Do not open the air fryer for the first 25 minutes.
  6. After baking, leave the sponge cake in the turned-off air fryer for another 10 minutes, then cool completely on a wire rack.
