Source: Olga, AdobeStockIn recent years, recipes for bread without traditional wheat flour have been gaining increasing popularity. Red lentil bread with psyllium has a dense texture, holds its shape well, and stays fresh for a long time. It's also perfect for making sandwiches and various snacks!
Preparation time: 1 hour 20 minutes.
Servings: 1.
Ingredients
- 250 g red lentils;
- 200 ml water;
- 2 tablespoons psyllium husk;
- 1 tablespoon olive oil;
- 1 teaspoon baking powder;
- 1 teaspoon salt.
Step-by-step recipe
- Rinse the lentils, cover with cold water, and let soak for 4-6 hours or overnight. After soaking, rinse again and drain any excess liquid.
- Blend the lentils and 200 ml of water until smooth.
- Add salt, baking powder, olive oil, and psyllium. Mix the dough well and let it rest for 5-7 minutes so that the psyllium absorbs the moisture and the mixture thickens.
- After that, transfer the dough to a loaf pan and bake the red lentil bread for approximately 40-50 minutes in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius (350°F).
- Let the bread cool slightly in the pan, then transfer it to a wire rack. Once completely cooled, the crumb will become denser and easier to slice.
